UNITED WANT KROOS IN DE GEA DEAL

Manchester United are set to ask for German midfielder Toni Kroos in any deal for David De Gea, reports claim.

The Red Devils thought they had closed the chapter where Real wanted De Gea, a club where the Spaniard is keen on joining.

Reports in England say United are not happy that Real Madrid have opened discussions with the view of luring the star goalkeeper to the Bernabeu. De Gea could have since joined Madrid but for a clerical error that stalled the deal.

Jose Mourinho now wants Toni Kroos, who he admires, to move to United if Madrid want the De Gea deal to happen this summer. The 2014 World Cup winner could partner Paul Pogba in the middle and help the club build a stronger side.

Man United wanted to break the goalkeeper transfer record with the deal for De Gea but adding Kroos to that deal would significantly lower the £60 million valuation. Madrid would likely fight off adding Kroos to the deal, opting to pay the £60 million price tag for De Gea. United could have signed Alvaro Morata from Madrid but the Red Devils opted to add Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

For now there are a lot that could happen before the August 31st deadline. If the deal for Kroos will not happen, there is still the huge interest in Spurs star Eric Dier. Spurs chief Daniel Levy has rebuffed earlier bids but a final £60 million could seal the deal. The 23-year old is expected to earn double his wages at United but Levy is refusing to sell at any cost, particularly after losing a key player in Kyle Walker.
